With an agenda covering AI, cloud, 5G, streaming, and sustainability, IBC 2025, held from September 12–15 at Amsterdam’s RAI Exhibition and Convention Centre, reaffirmed its status as the leading convention for the media and technology industry. With more than 1,300 exhibitors, the event showcased the sector’s latest innovations. Yet one announcement stole the spotlight: SES’s bold rebrand following its acquisition of Intelsat.
At IBC, the newly merged company, now one of the largest satellite operators, unveiled its new identity. As SVG Europe reported, “Central to this rebranding is the purpose statement, ‘Space to Make a Difference,’ which highlights the company’s mission and the impact it hopes to achieve in the industry. Accompanying the launch is its tagline, ‘Solve. Empower. Soar,’ which embodies SES’s dedication to operational excellence and market leadership.
CEO Adel Al-Saleh emphasized the new identity’s strategic purpose. “Through customer surveys conducted leading up to the merger, it came out clear that they need more than satellite connectivity. They need a space solutions partner with the scale to reach the world and the ambition to redefine what’s possible — delivering on promises that move the space industry forward.”
“Space is more essential than ever, powering everything from secure government communications to bridging the digital divide and being connected wherever you are,” Al-Saleh wrote in a LinkedIn post that coincided with the launch, placing the rebrand within a broader industry context. “Satellite connectivity has become a cornerstone of modern life. And the industry is evolving fast. This combination [with Intelsat] is a strategic leap forward. Together, we gain scale, investment capacity and, most importantly, the innovation power to shape the future of global satellite connectivity.”
The announcement from SES encapsulated the essence of IBC 2025: an industry at a turning point, where technology, scale, and purpose converge to shape the future of connectivity. As companies across media and technology adapt to shifting business models and rising consumer expectations, SES’s rebrand signifies more than just a new look. It reflects how transformation and ambition are becoming the new norm for leadership in the satellite era.
