SATELLITE 2024 Conference: The Hub for Satellite and Space Enthusiasts

SATELLITE 2024 Conference, innovation, event, connect

The highly anticipated SATELLITE 2024 Conference and Exhibition is set to kick off next week at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C., running from March 18-21, 2024. Last year’s event had almost 14,000 in attendance. For over four decades, this event has served as a central hub for professionals and enthusiasts. Representatives from various industries, including military and government, investment, telecom, and wireless, will come together to connect and collaborate. As satellite technology continues to have a profound impact on everything from government and military operations to transportation and media, the SATELLITE 2024 conference is an opportunity to spend four days networking, learning, and collaborating on vital topics that have a global impact.

Artificial intelligence (AI), multi-orbit, cybersecurity, and the future space economy are big topics at this year’s SATELLITE conference due to their effect on the satellite industry and beyond. AI is revolutionizing how satellite data is connected, analyzed, and utilized, leading to advancements in communication and autonomous operations. Multi-orbit solutions offer the best of GEO and non-GEO orbit connectivity. Cybersecurity has become increasingly critical as satellites play a vital role in telecommunications, navigation, and national security, making them potential targets for cyberattacks. Panel discussions will cover other topics such as deep space satellite connectivity networks, the future of the space economy, and the latest strategies shaping the future of the satellite industry and its role in the broader technological landscape.

Speakers at the conference include government and industry leaders from organizations like the National Space Council at the White House, satellite companies like Intelsat, and organizations like Delta Airlines – a testament to the influence satellites have across sectors. A few of the featured speakers are:

  • Diane Howard, Director, Commercial Space Policy National Space Council at The White House
  • Glenn Latta, Managing Director of Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC), Delta Airlines
  • Lt. Gen. Shawn N. Bratton, Deputy Chief of Space Operations, Strategy, Plans, Programs, & Requirements, U.S. Space Force
  • Jessica Rosenworcel, Chairwoman, Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
  • Carmel Ortiz, SVP, Technology and Innovation, Intelsat
  • Tim Ellis, Co-Founder and CEO of Relativity Space
  • Kevin Steen, CEO, OneWeb Technologies

Much excitement and anticipation centers around sessions with Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), who broke glass ceilings when she became the first female secretary-general of the ITU. As a leader in international telecommunications policy for over three decades, she has an abundance of insight to share, specifically around her work to make sustainable digital development a top priority for countries around the world. Through her proactive efforts, she has made significant strides in bridging the digital divide and advancing global efforts towards a more connected society. Upon being elected as Secretary-General of the ITU in September 2022, she explained, “I fully believe in the power and potential of connectivity to drive economic growth and transform healthcare, education, employment, gender equality, and youth empowerment.”

On the opening day of SATELLITE 2024, attendees can join a fireside chat featuring Intelsat’s CEO, David Wajsgras, who will share insights on industry dynamics, growth strategies, and emerging trends. “We have some announcements the week of SATELLITE 2024 that will be quite interesting and very exciting. We’re in the process of reinventing our approach to global connectivity – think managed services, multi-orbit capabilities – now to bring that forward, we’ve developed a very robust ecosystem with partnerships and alliances,” said Wajsgras in an interview previewing the event. He joked, “We consider this a family reunion of sorts without all the drama, maybe with some of the drama, whatever, it’s going to be fun.”

The upcoming conference promises to be a dynamic and transformative event, bringing together leaders and innovators from diverse sectors to explore the latest advancements and opportunities in satellite technology. Attendees can expect engaging discussions, insightful presentations, live demos, valuable networking opportunities, and a few surprises and announcements.
