ATxSG 2025: Where Satellites, AI, and Quantum Converge

Asia Tech x Singapore (ATxSG) 2025, Asia’s leading technology event, celebrated its fifth anniversary as a cornerstone of digital innovation and collaboration from May 27th– 29th. Over 25,000 world leaders and industry decision-makers attended the event which was co-hosted by Singapore’s Tourism Board and Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). The three main segments of ATxSG 2025 were ATxSummit at Capelle Singapore, where high-level sessions addressed important topics like AI, AI safety, space satellites and communications and quantum computing followed by ATxEnterprise at Singapore EXPO. Here the conversation focused on innovations in AI, communications, media technologies, and lastly, ATxInspire, a year-round series of thought leadership events. This article is a roundup of some key innovations and announcements from ATxSG 2025.

The Role of Satellites in Global Connectivity

SatelliteAsia, an exhibition highlighting advancements in satellite communications, non-terrestrial networks, and global connectivity infrastructure, was one standout segment at ATxSG 2025. A key exhibitor, Intelsat, showcased its leadership in satellite-powered mobility and IoT connectivity. In the panel, “Empowering the IoT Revolution: The Role of Satellite Connectivity,” Jean-Philippe Gillet, Senior Vice President of Media, Mobility & Networks at Intelsat, emphasized the critical role the satellite industry plays in the future of communications: “Seamless global connectivity starts with the satellite industry,” he stated. “The satellite industry is one of the strongest advocates for 5G non-terrestrial networks and has ben advancing collaborations with mobile network operators to make this a reality.”

In a significant milestone, Intelsat and SoftBank Corp. successfully completed the first phase of a 5G satellite to cellular handoff test. The test used off-the-shelf SD-WAN solutions to demonstrate continuous connectivity between Intelsat’s FlexMove Fleet service and public 5G networks in a connected vehicle scenario.

IMDA Partners with Industry Giants to Support SME Growth

As part of the Digital Enterprise Blueprint, new partnerships are set to accelerate Singapore’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) adoption of cutting-edge technologies like GenAI, cloud, and cybersecurity. The IMDA is partnering with industry giants Alibaba Cloud, Prudential, and ST Engineering to provide SMEs resources like cloud credits, technical training, and cyber resilience services. These partnerships aim to benefit over 6,000 enterprises, including up to 3,000 SMEs through initiatives like the Alibaba Cloud Digital Accelerator, GenAI Xponential Programme, and the SME CyberResilience Programme. By providing workshops and access to pre-built GenAI modules, IMDA is deepening its partnerships with AWS and Microsoft to support over 1,000 digitally mature enterprises. This could result in a 50 percent increase in productivity and cost savings of up to $300,000 per business.

Preparing for the Quantum Era

Toshiba showcased a quantum-safe network solution with SpeQtral and Ciena to help businesses prepare for quantum-era cyber threats. The solution eliminates the need for costly infrastructure upgrades by combining Ciena’s Waveserver 5 platform with Toshiba’s Multiplexed Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technology to enable 800 Gb/s encrypted communication over existing fiber networks. Post-Quantum Cryptography and QKD are combined in this approach to create a robust, future-ready data security framework. SpeQtral supports the deployment for telecom and enterprise customers, ensuring a smooth transition to quantum-resilient systems. The showcase highlights the scalable and practical adoption of quantum-safe communication with existing infrastructure.
