Accessible from the Cellnex RAI Amsterdam tower, the demonstration showcased channels NPO 1 and NPO 3FM were available for viewing indoors and outdoors during the event. The project, supported by partners Nakolos, SYES, and COM-TECH, aimed to improve transmission parameters for future tests and highlighted the advantages of 5G broadcast for effective data use, reliable network performance, and emergency communication.

Intelsat Reveals New Innovations in Next-Gen Satellite Solutions

This year, Intelsat displayed important partnerships and developments. Now offering free, ad-supported TV channels, including EURO NEWS, Intelsat’s satellite video neighborhood in North America is growing to reach a larger, more established audience. Additionally, they unveiled a hybrid distribution infrastructure, exemplified by a new agreement with Hearst Networks EMEA (formerly known as A+E Networks EMEA) to reach more viewers and affiliates across Central and Eastern Europe, which integrates satellite, fiber, and terrestrial IP solutions. Furthermore, Intelsat’s terrestrial IP solution, IntelsatOne IP, won praise for its performance when it successfully delivered content from the Summer Games in Paris to a major Brazilian broadcaster in Rio. As Pascale Fromont , Vice President and General Manager at Intelsat, said:

“Satellite was not originally something that FAST channels were really on, but I think they realized that the satellite video neighborhood, especially a free to air neighborhood, already has millions of households already looking; it’s an established audience that’s ready to watch so it’s a great opportunity for them to bring in advertising revenue right away.”
